Modern Magix is a small, queer-owned & operated company specializing in hand-crafted metaphysical supplies and ritual candles. Created in early 2014 by friends with a shared interest in DIY witchcraft, one of the founders - Cedar Kuzma - transformed this hobby into a profitable side hustle. By 2017, through support of subscription box companies like My Box of Shadows, and the support of amazing repeat customers, this side-hustle became a main source of income. In 2021 we moved out of working from the basement of our home in Cranston, RI to a brand new office space in Saco, ME. Modern Magix is comprised of self-identified witches who are committed to keeping their magical practice respectfully non-appropriative. Many of our products are inspired by the Wiccan Sabbats and the Wheel of the Year, and like many other witches our magical path started in Wicca. Today our personal practices look very different and more secular, still rooted in creativity and DIY. The creations we offer here are the result of creative expression and the pursuit of down-to-earth quality. Hours of testing goes into each candle to ensure they burn well and smell good. Everything from candle pouring to the packaging is made by our hands with intention and magic every step of the way. We have many new ideas and creations that we can't wait to share with you!
Cedar Kuzma (they/them) - founder and Head Witch - is the main driving force behind everything from production to packaging. Their partner in crime and self-described Herb Nerd, Jacki Carlson (they/them), manages inventory and outreach.
